How to Get Your Boss to Say "Yes"
You want to attend NSI IMPACT 2013, but you’re not sure how to approach your boss. The best way to improve your chances for a "yes" is to approach your boss armed with all of the facts.
(1) Show your boss the conference brochure.
This year’s conference has 22 information packed sessions and workshops designed to help you master JPAS, fast-track employee security clearances, bolster your awareness efforts, manage emerging threats, streamline approval of your classified AIS systems, implement security best practices and avoid costly deficiencies.
(2) Spread the wealth!
Tell your boss that you will take notes and brief the whole team when you get back. You can put a full formal presentation together so everyone will benefit. If you aren’t able to do a full presentation, write up an email to circulate that shares details of the main points of the sessions you attended.
(3) Come back better networked
Let’s face it, it’s not always what you know, it’s who you know. And this works on every level — from being able to ask someone about a tricky security issue you’re facing, to knowing who to talk to when your looking for expert advice.
(4) Practical takeaways
With hands-on practical sessions, case studies, lessons learned from the security trenches, and plenty of time to network with your peers, you will go home with real-world best practices, tips and shortcuts that will make an immediate difference to your security program.
